Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This page explains what happens to your data when you use savefrommedia.com. The short version: there are no accounts, we don't ask for your name or email to use the tools, and we don't keep the videos you download.
The link you paste
To find the files, the link of the post has to be looked up. For TikTok videos, your browser first sends the link directly to the tikwm.com service (see below). For Instagram and Facebook links, TikTok photo posts, and TikTok links that tikwm.com can't handle, your browser sends the link to our server. The server then asks the platform (TikTok, Instagram or Facebook) for the available versions of that post. It keeps the result, meaning the link, the post's title, its thumbnail link and the file links, in its memory for 15 minutes so that the download buttons work without asking the platform again. This memory is not written to disk or to a database and is cleared when the server restarts.
Third parties that see the link
- tikwm.com. For TikTok links, your browser sends the TikTok link directly to the tikwm.com service, which returns the video and sound files. tikwm.com therefore sees your IP address and browser details, as with any website you visit. If that doesn't work, our server reads the post itself instead, from our server's address, not from yours.
- TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. Our server contacts the platform to read the post and, for Instagram, Facebook and photo posts, to fetch the files. When you download a TikTok video or MP3, or see a TikTok thumbnail, your browser loads it directly from TikTok's servers, so TikTok receives your IP address and browser details as with any visit to TikTok.
Files prepared on our server
Some formats have to be built on our server: Instagram and Facebook videos (picture and sound are joined), TikTok slideshows, photo ZIP files and some MP3 files. Each one is made in its own temporary folder and deleted 5 minutes after it has been sent to you. A cleanup job checks every minute and removes any folder older than 5 minutes, even if a download was interrupted. We never keep a copy or a list of what you downloaded.
Your IP address
To stop abuse, the number of requests is limited per IP address (for example 30 link checks per minute). The counter is kept in the server's memory only for the current one-minute window and is not stored anywhere else. Our hosting provider, Railway, handles all connections to our servers and keeps technical logs, which can include IP addresses and the links processed, for a limited time under its own policies. We use these logs only to fix errors.
To decide whether to show the cookie banner, our server looks up which country your IP address belongs to in a database stored on the server itself (IP Geolocation by DB-IP). The address is not sent anywhere else and the result is not stored; your browser only remembers the answer until you close the tab.
No accounts, no personal profile
There is no sign-up, login or payment, and we have no database of users. The only personal information we receive directly is what you choose to send us by email.
Cookies and analytics
Our own pages and tools do not set any cookies. We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics 4, which counts visits and shows us which pages are used. If you visit from the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are loaded only after you click Accept in the cookie banner; if you click Decline, they are not loaded at all. Visitors from other countries don't see the banner and Google Analytics loads normally. Wherever you are, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so we don't ask on every visit, and you can change it at any time: . Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_77Q1QZWL30) and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type and your approximate location. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. How Google uses this data is described in Google's partner-sites policy. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
We don't show advertising at the moment. If we add ads in the future, this policy will be updated first.
Our blog
The blog at savefrommedia.com/blogs/ runs on WordPress, hosted by Hostinger, and uses Google Site Kit for its own analytics. If you leave a comment there, WordPress stores the name, email and comment you enter.
Your rights
If you are in the European Union, the UK or a similar jurisdiction, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. Because we don't keep accounts or download history, in practice this concerns emails you sent us and analytics data. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
SaveFromMedia is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. For any privacy question or request, write to savefrommedia@gmail.com.
